People believed that El Dorado is a legendary city of gold in South America, filled with enormous amounts of gold and riches. Many adventurers and explorers set on journeys to find El Dorado. But despite their efforts, they never found the city of gold as it was described in the stories.
El Dorado is not a city of gold but a ceremony in Colombia. Long ago, the Muisca tribe had a tradition. When a new leader or chief took charge, they covered him in gold dust and placed him on a raft.
Then, they floated him to the middle of Lake Guatavita, where he offered treasures to the water.
